The Junior Red Cross Unit, Gorkha Pathshala School was established in the year 1996 under the Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya State Branch. It was then undertaken by the Counsellor, Mrs Pushpa Biswa. 

Later, in 2006 it was handed over to Mrs Uttama Thapa, Asstt. Teacher as a Counsellor and Programme Officer. The Indian Red Cross Society has recognised Mrs Uttama Thapa's Support & Contribution to the Society over the years and she was conferred the Award by the Honourable Governor of Meghalaya, Shri Tataghata Roy on World Red Cross Day (GFQWET8th May 2019).

Mrs Uttama Thapa has undergone many trainings on First Aid. She has completed "Saint John Ambulance" Training which is the highest training considered by Indian Red Cross Society. Many school programmes are conducted under the guidance and supervision of Mrs Uttama Thapa till date.

ACTIVITIES:

  1. INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY : The students of JRC had performed Yoga along with the whole school students.


  1. WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY: The students of JRC provided many messages to safeguard the environment by postering inside the campus . Many students donated saplings of various plants to the principal of the school. The cleaners and helpers of the school were distributed with a gift as a token of appreciation for keeping the campus clean.


  1. WORLD DRUG AWARENESS DAY: The students of JRC prepared various postures to send messages to eradicate drugs among the young generations. Community programme was being organised by the students of the whole school. They had carried postures and a procession was undertaken within the neighbouring locality of the school.


  1. FIRST AID PROGRAMME : The Students of JRC had demonstrated different items on first aid in front of the school assembly.


  1. VISIT TO OLD AGE HOME: A programme on food fest was organised by JRC. The students along with the Counsellor prepared various items to collect fund for the visit to an old age home. The whole school contributed various items such as toothpaste, detergent, hair oil, towels, etc as a donation. Funds collected from the programme were used to buy food items. All these things were donated in the old age home and charity of missionary.


  1. COMPETITIONS: The JRC had conducted various programmes such as hand work, drawing, extempore speech, etc and prizes were distributed to the students.

  2. CLEANING DRIVE: Every year JRC organises cleaning drive where the students of whole school along with the teaching and non-teaching staffs participates and makes the programme successful.
